The King of Inishturk
The King Of Inishturk
I heard tell of a donkey,
The King of Inishturk
at 27 years old he no longer works.
He roams the island, wild and proud and free,
this good old boy is as happy as can be.
The last remaining donkey on the Isle of Inishturk.
Adopted by those all around,
The King's forever home is bound.
Clifftop he surveys the shore.
Mountainside the land.
This is his sanctuary,
The Isle of Inishturk.
He wanders through his kingdom
through sun, and snow and rain.
Throughout each season his dignity he
maintains.
The sheep of the moors his company,
the people are his guests,
bow now to the King before he takes his rest.
Watch for this solitary figure wandering the shore.
For such an honour it will be,
if you are fortunate enough to see.
The last remaining donkey on the Isle of Inishturk.

A very enjoyable piece of writing Taylor. Just draws you in and I like the nobility of it for a simple donkey.
