Asylum seeker

I saw the holes in your head

Those kind of photographs don’t lie

The result of barbarity beyond my reason.

I saw your face through the bars

 Of a tropical torture chamber

My eyes do not know how to look now.

Your body is silently screaming

And my mind and my mouth are on shut down.

I want to say all is past and know it.

Instead you and I will share nightmares now

Are yours less because mine are more?

I hope so.
