Aged 13

I am 13 and alone in this place

Couldn’t stay where I was born – I am mixed race.

In my home country my mid-east far-east face provokes disgust

Reminder of a legalised –illegal and deeply antisocial lust.

I am 13 and alone brother in Belgium mum in France

There’s talk of “rights to family life” – what chance!

This is the UK in the year 2018

If you believe this fairy story of being reunited

Where have you been?

And so I sit alone in my dark room

Swallow my daily “happiness pills”

So I’ll feel better soon.
