On departure

It is customary

and necessary too

to say a few good words

for the departed souls

 

he may be close

with the trust reposed

and always helped the needy

despite his being greedy

 

it brings tears

and creates fear

in the mind

if finds death as the only cure

 

if not today

then tomorrow may be

our chance to depart

we have understood the death art

 

we love or hate

but we may never state

in open with favor or disfavor

it is human nature

 

we may err

but create no furor

over enemy's death even

as everybody wishes safe passage to heaven
