Cliff Hanging
I feel my mind slipping,
almost dangling from a cliff.
Obsession and love are different,
Yet similar with a twist.
You left me in the cold,
And so I left you behind.
Although it breaks my heart
this is my time to shine.
To fend for myself,
That was the first lesson,
A scared little girl,
With no direction.
Which way do I turn?
Do I go up or down?
Do I stay afloat?
Or do I let myself drown.
For so long I’ve buried all this pain,
building up walls of concrete from the stone age.
I wish I could see
The light I bring to others,
While I can’t see myself
I seek confidence in others.
I can’t tell how long this pain is going to last.
It hurts so terribly, because of my past.
Definition of one self is determined by their view,
One could see a sky so big,
Or an ocean dark blue.
These are the things I have yet to learn,
But when I do,
My light will make your eyes burn.
