Pain scrapes

At your nerves

Leaves you in tatters

Feeling sore,  weird,

Screaming inside

Yet thankfully alive

Trying to hide the pain

From your loved ones

Gritting teeth

No analgesic relief

On and on

Even till the Finnegans wake

And you can sleep.
