Light
I am out in a wilderness
Amongst trees, bare and jagged
Amid rusted car bones
jutting obscenely
Where half starved,
nervous animals skitter
Quickened in their distress.
I am striving, surviving
just surviving
With every misplaced step
Each stumbled approach
My brightness slides away
Now as the fingers of youth
slip from my grasp,
tumble into the past.
I find the proof; that single,
burning light of truth
A beacon of hope to reveal
a way for me to heal.
And as illumination grants me sight
I feel alive
I feel light.

yes. yes. yes. me like it. i particularly like the scene set in the first verse. i wouldn't mind some more clarity towards the end- but then i'm a simple soul and like things spelled out for me. excellent work! :)
