Stroke-Torn Woman
Stroke-Torn Woman
I met a stroke-torn woman
Her old life left behind
Left lying on the floor too long
With consequence unkind
One leg weak with muscle loss
Speech affected too
Determined to fight back again
Would we?, would I?, would you?
She studied, passed her theory
License, for to drive
Then waited for her car
Adjusted, to arrive
As usual she came in today
A smile was on her face
“I drove myself in here today
Rejoined the human race!”
No longer does she now rely
On others for transport
She's shown that by determination
Problems can be fought
She has become a close friend
Still suffers scars of war
My friend, this stroke-torn woman
Left too long on the floor

The poem resonates well.. Met a stroke patient recently, Truly, the courage and the will has helped her to sail through it all..
