A Litany for the Living
Name those you love who are not dead,
Speak their names aloud in your head;
Weigh them up, one at a time, give them
A value in words that rhyme. Toast them
With your eyes and toast them in your heart.
Express what they mean to you in action and art.
Share their troubles, be steadfast and true,
Tell them exactly how much they mean to you.
Contemplate their rocky road to here from birth
And show them what their friendship is worth.

Thank you mona, Wolfgar, Keith and Jane. Your continuing and generous support means a lot to me. The poem embodies an aspiration that I strive for and, just occasionally, achieve! John ?
David. Visual artists, like musicians, have, I think, the rub on us weary wordsmiths, especially when it comes to conveying something of the mystery of life.
