Outside the Rink. Unfettered

entry picture

Outside the Rink. Unfettered

I'd like my poems to interest you

For them to make you think

But yes, I know I often go out

Outside of the safe poet's rink

But if I don't venture outside this rink

And find out what new can be found

Convention (I don't like) will trap me

And chained, fettered, I will stay bound

"Fluff and flowery stuff"? - I love fluff and flowery stuff -

this poem is not about April showers
or fluffy fluffs
it's all about pretty flowers
and teeny cute baby ducks.

There now, is that not beautiful?

Forget edgy - think fluffy

Shit Brian! You setting me a challenge? You know what happens when I get too edgy. They kick me off the site for some R and R.

Seriously, that's what we're both on about. Too much doom and gloom, fluff and flowery stuff. Get out of comfort zone, out of safe topics. (Personally I still regard certain 'unsafe' topics verboten as you are aware)

I'm asked to write an edgy
Poem for the scary
One that's in the icon
But am a bit tad wary

Brian

You should know poets can choose to write whatever they want. It doesn't have to be groundbreaking. It doesn't have to be written for an audience. It can simply be written for the enjoyment of playing with words. As this was. If others like it fine. If not-still fine. I enjoyed doing it. That what counts. To me.

Don - writing a poem about the poems you write is hardly ground breaking, particularly as you do it at fairly regular intervals. Come on Don...walk the walk!!!
