Sparklers in the dark
one to mark national refugee week..................
Sparklers in the dark
They came
2 grown ups
2 children
And a carrier bag.
Pockets and stomachs empty
Hearts full of hope.
They came from a green visual paradise
To the unremitting grey
Of an urban North West December.
And they breathed the colours of life
Into the tattered and tired house
They filled the weary teary street
With sunshine smiles and exotic eastern promise.
And out of the darkest satanic mill town
Shone forth celestial light.

A nice positive poem Eve. I like the title.
