Writing Squad Recruitment
The Writing Squad is looking for fifteen motivated writers, aged between 16 and 20, who are from, live, work, or study in the Yorkshire and Humberside region.
The Squad is not a formal course, they’re nothing like a school, but nevertheless, some of their graduates have built careers as poets and prose writers, playwrights and screenwriters, performers and lyricists.
There are four Squad days a year, usually held in Sheffield, where you will learn with professional writers. In addition, there will be days and weekends when graduates from previous Squads work together on projects with the current group.
A past graduate says, “I’ve really enjoyed the Squad days, being with other writers, and getting instant feedback on my work from people I respect, it’s been great!”
There will also be four one-to-ones a year with the Squad tutor, who is available to receive work and offer feedback through e-mail at any time. The Squad is a creative community, whose writers share work and ideas with all the other members, through internet groups and the inter-personal network.
“Having the chance to discuss my work and future with someone who knows what they’re talking about and who is genuinely interested, is what I’ve always sort of pined for.”
There is no charge for the programme, and the closing date is Friday, 30th April, 2010.
