A Reverie
A Reverie
A butterfly flutters in orchestral flight
a symphony of delicate charm only to delight
Capricious of uncertain design it meanders
as we transfixed do similarly wander
Rich in colours, dragon red and charcoal black
with an elegance which we so often lack
It serves no master and obeys no creed
as it dips, climbs, hesitates with little speed
We become absorbed in its lack of haste
as it settles on blossoms and leaves to taste
Majestic in flight with no cortege
it traverses my garden with freedom to engage
A summer creature born of ugliness
to become a manifestation of such loveliness
