Aspirations of a Refugee

I have successfully landed in my new land,

But there is no-one there to lend me a hand!

I am coping although it is extremely tough,

Sheltering in doorways,sleeping rough.

Coughing and shivering when awoken,

Mentally drained,emotionally broken.

Little has changed to my plight,

But I am still hopeful and continue to fight.

I shut down sometimes to deal with the stress,

Situations beyond my control  leave a mess.

Hopefully one day I will live  the life I deserve and desire.

To live in a home , raise a family, I will truly aspire.

This is good poem to highlight homelessness especially as the nights are getting colder and in the run up to Christmas
