Mugabe's Dead
Mugabe's Dead
Mugabe's dead (and gone to hell?)
Everybody's cheering
A hundred thousand kills he made
Nobody then was cheering
A hero of the struggle
To gain in-de-pen-dence
Descended into tyranny
Corruption, incompetence
Homosexuals he persecuted
Politicians that opposed his way
Rigging elections to ensure he
Could still stay in power and hold sway
There is one sad side to his passing
The victims will not get their day in court
They won't get an apology for their suffering
A bitter/sweet moment of sorts

There were Mugabes before Mugabe, and there will be more Mugabes in future. There needs to be an internationally agreed way of removing such leaders eg via the U.N....but all that happens is that the major powers take the opportunity to either support or oppose the tyrant and nothing actually gets done. Still, always a good theme for poets!
