A Moment in Time
A Moment in Time
A Railway Buffett Bar
on a rainy November evening
we sat amongst a throng of tables
as the air filled with smoke
Silently we sipped our drinks
wishing to be somewhere else
a place of tranquility and alone
but people pushed about us
The rush hour was in full swing
he looked searchingly into his beer
I at his profile deep in my own thoughts
With no hint of movement he said softly
"I am in love with you"
A pause seized the moment
a strange silence enveloped us
"I am in love with you too"
We looked intently into
each others eyes
deep into those brown eyes
leaving aside the white
luminous seas around them
No flicker of emotion was made
only an inner recognition
We left together
out into the wintry night
