Kissing Frogs
You've spent a long time kissing frogs and looking for princes,
And never really asking if a prince is what you need,
Cuz maybe, just maybe it doesn't matter what the world says,
This, "Princess," needs a frog to succeed,
And all the gleaming armour and the white steeds,
And silver crowns and ermine cloaks,
Are there to cover up some deficiencies,
That are plain as day in the one who croaks,
And let me ask you what it is you're after?
Honesty or the flash of a dashing smile?
The simple gifts of love and laughter,
Or cash and a splash of affected style?
Surely all those novels tell you,
Your hero's just a kiss away,
But what if you've already kissed him,
And didn't have the sense to stay?
See the thing with all those clichéd stories,
The one thing they try to get across,
The difference between less and more is,
The ability to see the loss,
So next time you go out kissing frogs,
And feel that they have failed to impress,
Just remember what defines a prince,
Is how he treats his princess.
