my rationale

 

I’ve lost my rationale

but I haven’t told anyone

I go around mouthing my lines

with just a hint of enthusiasm

 

I stand back where I used to bite

I take more pleasure in viewing

where these children get it right

how they respond to the discipline

 

at night I look around

methodical without permissions

searching for interesting sounds

to turn into inspirations

 

but the rationale has gone

I’m less worried about getting it back

there are just a few more lines I’d like to add

before the ink turns the page completely black
