And So We Eat Again
The dishes are done
The pans are set
The leftovers have grown mold
It's time to break down
And have a good meal
canned green beans from the garden
potatoes mashed with milk and butter
Chicken breast, chunked, smothered with soy sauce, sprinkled with lemon pepper and garlic salt
gravy heated to the right consistancy
A couple canned halves of peaches from the orchard
laid out on a hardy porcelain plate
A large cold glass of water
A meal fit for a king
I solitarily dine
Each bite porportioned to the pallet for maximine enjoyment of the next
A good few gulps of water to wash one flavor from the next and to clear the throat
A single bite of peach reserved for the tantelizing taste to finish a most satisfactory dinner
The dishes ready for the maid
Which I will do tomorrow
'cause for tonight I am king
