GREEN BRONX MACHINE

GREEN BRONX MACHINE

container of seeds
no place to reap
a radiator tucked behind
forgotten over time
they didn't see
the happening underneath
tensions rose
students on their toes
gloves off
weapons sought
no sticks or rocks
but a garden box
sudden pause
oohs and awes
couldn't believe their eyes
what a beautiful sight
brows unfurled
picking buds for girls
bouquets taken home
to moms with a poem
release of steam
epiphanies
Green Bronx Machine
to legacy
have the power to flower
learned in that classroom
can be a mushroom
or choose to bloom
