If I wrote my life in biography, filled with all the thrills and tears,
I would issue several apologies, to those I've hurt down the years,
And to those that never abandoned me, that always stood by my side,
I'd acknowledge the trust they gave to me, eased the pain in heart and mind,
The space at my side was a vacancy, I never dreamed I would fill,
Then she came along and insisted we, had the love, hope and the will,
To make a new life and there together we'd, build a home where we'd belong,
And she snapped me out of complacency, taught me together we're strong.
And finally I would give thanks to see, the trusting smile of each child,
Because the love of this woman saved me, brought my soul in from the wild,
So don't live your life in complacency, never let hope slip away,
Open your heart and mind to what could be, and it will show you the way.
