Daydream

entry picture

So I stand and I smoke in our little ‘Smokers Quarantine Zone’,
I listen to the birds as they sing in the trees
and just for a moment, the drone of the cars
is transformed into the crashing waves of the sea

And I could almost be free, could almost be
in a different place, with the sand beneath my feet
and a cool breeze on my face.
The cars and the trees and the cigarette ends
are a million miles away and forgotten.

As I sit in my seat in the shade
and I sip on an ice cold lemonade
with an awe inspiring sea view
and all that is missing...
...is you.

A whimsical moment well-caught. I like the gentleness in this, and the scene 'switch'. Good choice of words.

Any chance you might ditch the photo?
