Grandad
Grandads old chair is empty now, he gone
People say a lovely man hats off to John
a coal miner in his working years, poor sod
His lungs where damage by when 40 0dd
pit dust rotted his chest and lungs inside
Suffering we watched we could not abide
They sacked him his job he couldn't keep
couldnt catch his breath, nana would weep
he coughed up coal dust from in his chest
the lord took him, he was tired needed rest
now his chair is empty the room is sad
before his time god took our grandad
one day gran said we will meet him again
There will be laughter, as god heals all pain
so grandad know I loved you more than life
along with my mum and your loving wife
Sleep silently in the house of Jesus now
we will meet again soon one day somehow
we will never forget you while we're apart
I sit in your old chair and break my heart
love you grandad sleep and take rest
Our god only takes to his home the best
