My Mother in Law

 

My Mother in Law is a woman of substance

not to be messed with or ignored

A matriarchal figure who rules the roost

woe betide those who challenge her spirit

Confrontation with her achieves little indeed

her stoicism is utterly remarkable

As is her intellect and wit

never to be underestimated or side lined

A mother, a grandmother, a linguist and more

she is highly observant and knows the score

Compassion is ever present as is the rod of iron

not to be messed with nor ignored

Reasoned in her thinking she has great stature

seldom overcome or even subdued

Not a typical mother in law

but a mum to all, a shoulder to cry on

Born at the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War

she has seen much of life

A patriotic Spanish Lady with dignity and elegance

I have yet to meet anyone who can 

surpass her
