Poet-Tree
The Poet-Tree Forest is an exhibition of art and poetry at the Arc Community Gallery in Stockport, that will run from Monday, 26th April until Friday, 18th June.
Arc is an organisation which is dedicated to working with people who are experiencing emotional or psychological distress. It aims to help people explore the arts, recognise their true potential, and build confidence to achieve goals in all area of their lives. In Arc’s vision of a cohesive society, creativity and well-being go hand in hand, and the arts are available to all.
Their centre in South Reddish incorporates art & design studios, as well as the community gallery where the Poet-Tree exhibition will be based. The Poet-Tree project, a recent multi-media project devised by Arc, invited people of all ages and backgrounds to represent themselves and their community by contributing to a collective work of art. From October 2009 to February 2010, schools, community groups, artists, and individuals were invited to design and paint their own leaves to decorate one of Arc’s touring Poet-Trees, or to create and build trees of their own from any material.
This work has now been gathered together for the exhibition to make a Forest of Artwork at the Arc Community Gallery which is located in the Vauxhall Industrial Estate on Greg Street, Reddish in Stockport. The gallery is open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday; has full disabled access and groups are welcome.
