Hi Ann
loved all these reflective actions. Can see them all being done. great poem
might be tempted to make a blunter end and get rid of the two longer lines at the end. just an idea. like this -
Fold back the futon
shake the duvet
wash the sheets.
put away the sugar
till next time.

Lol - I can imagine the reading groups you lot must belong to!
I've read this more than once and it always makes me laugh. What is it about Tunbridge Wells? I bet they're just as rampant as any other town - probably worse cos it's all pent up.

Nice rhyme and pace - and good to see some positives in getting old... Some old people tend to think their age gives them an excuse to say exactly what they like without wrapping anything up. I'll probably be one of them :)

I really like the way you express the thoughts and feelings in this, Thom.
It's always reflective. I especially like the title and these lines:
'All this assumption of absolutes, burned bridges
there being no way to return to stir this into a mess'
'All this forward thinking, predictive dreaming
pushing eyes and minds to see something not yet shown'

aha!
did,nt let my ignorance show
this time.(having nearly missed 'love games)
this reminds me of so many
woodland Autumn walks we have had,
in which we always ended up
making piles with dead leaves-
lying down on them and......(better not)
you will have the sweats hee hee.
especially loved the last two lines
night night lovely Lady

Your lines brought a mix of wry sympathy and

Brilliant to see this up here. Thanks - a great laugh out loud poem for a miserable rainy day or just any time. Loved this at the Tudor last night. You made a big contribution to making a good night out even better. Took "Blue Nun" into work today to get us all singing and in the mood for the weekend! Cheers, Dave. X

There's a top studio guy called Pete Dymond in
Bristol BS15 1UA who puts stuff on disc and did this for yours truly after I sent him a
tape of my home-made version. I thought he did
a pretty good job of capturing the original early "Cash" sound.

Good poem, Dave, well constructed.I liked the 2nd verse in particular.
Black the oil. Guzzled freely on freeways,
Here, it's found around.
That 2nd line seems a bit odd to me.
Where gold, precious gold, that made this wealthy land
Should be "land wealthy" surely?

Top Bombing!
Even better than the poem with the music.
Is it you playing all the instruments, a group of you or some clever computerised wizardry? Either way it's brilliant.
I posted a poor attempt at a song earlier this year, "Nights in Prestatyn". Not a patch on this though!

Enjoyed this Dave! particularly the first three parts.
Nice the way you`ve used the first three colours -the white, the brown, and the green - as the possessors, the replacers, and the prize
in a calm, unracist, manner, and then used the green as a snaring kelp.
Also the way you`ve used the threats to species and the oil to warn against doing the deeds of the previous owners.
And all within a freshly observed, colourful holiday poem!
good work!

Great poem Dave - and a good idea to use the colour theme (should it be color?)
Some wonderful descriptions and analogies.
I once got stopped by the police for speeding past a church in Utah. Doesn't get more serious.
