Cosmic consciousness an awesome idea - like the way you handle these concepts and that of colour - are we lucky or what who have the faculties to see these things when some folk I know are colour blind for example and cannot think outside their own space.

Thanks Lynn ( beguiled by seals)- I know "nature" poems aren't everyone's cup of tea! When I was staying in St Ives last week I went for a walk on the beach just as it was getting dark and there were these two seals really close in to shore. Magic!xx

Yep, raised a big smile here too, Hazel. Having not long passed this stage, I would say why not be sexy at sixty if you want to be? Ignore the bits that droop, that's what I try for! Lol.
Really enjoyed this, Hazel.

I cannot help but admire this poem (even though I have real physical problems with my own feet lol). It is a sad tale, and in some parts i find it a little cryptic, but as Stella says, it is a positively enchanting poem. But i didn't know whether I should be laughing at the comedy or feeling sad. Nice work though ray.

Nice poem. I'd prefer "ripening time". I found the last 3 lines less than smooth, maybe you could lose "ever" from the last line.

both I
and my 'crazy diamond'
love this neat,sweet little poem.
the said 'crazy diamond'
absolutely loves the Autumn,s
display of fiery leaves.
for me
as Autumn fades into Winter
I just love being in front of
me log fire,
a glass of whisky in hand-and
an evening of-FUTURAMA!
just call me Mr Easily-pleased!
(please keep other names you can think of
to yourself!)
yep! good poem Lynn.

Well, the poem comes to a great climax, the universe is a big bang and some gases and try as I might I'm not the centre. The last two lines are excellent. But it all starts off poorly, I think, the first 9 lines are letting down the rest. Another crap pun for you.

John (Leibfraumilch) I'm sure they do look at us but not in a way we would wish. Reminds me of the song 'Standing on the corner watchin' all the world go by......' Well its a good job we can't go to jail for what we're thinking. Even if these days it's just to stand and admire the outer beauty of youth and perhaps not without a little envy. Thanks for commenting.

I love this. At first you almost start feeling the same claustrophobic almost-migraine-like oppression as the writer, and then it gently and sweetly brings you out of that, to a new level of calm and beauty...and real hope and inspiration at the end.
Fantastic my dear, thanks for posting. Exactly suits my mood this week :) xx

Fantastic, I LOVE it. You did just the kind of thing that was going through my head seconds after suggesting it, except you added that first bit about belief, about a faith almost.
Love how it's just an insignificant bit of plastic, but then becomes full of hope and dreams until reality strikes and then it's a tag in a gutter again. Brilliant symbol of how life isn't fucking fair! Then that rejection - don't do balloons anymore. Fuck it. I'll use it instead for another purpose.
Christ - actually, that sums up a lot about you and me that poem. I love it. xx
Comment is about only fools (blog)
I really love this, for similar reasons to yours for writing it. having just cleared my sister's house, I have foudn similar photos, ones I did not know existed.
I agree with Greg; I would drop the first verse - too prosaic - and imply it elsewhere in the poem.
That would leave that wonderful first line - ...beatniks on the pier.
I remember them at Polzeath.
There is a clash, for me, between your barefoot self as the theme, and your raggety black jumpered self. how about you substitute 'barefoot' for 'little' in the first line of what is your second verse?
None of my business - your poem - I know. I should critique less and write more! thank you for this diversion.

Greetings.
Thank you for the comment.
I've rethought the snug and wraps, and have made a subtle change. This tightens up the piece, and it scans a little better.
The feels good.
What do you think?
OL.
Ps. Never thought about the regional issues. Food for thought.

A difficult intangible thing to get hold of, fear. You have some good descriptions in your opening stanza and then with the hunger analogy and I especially liked to way you handled this.
A couple of suggestions
snuggy - snug?
wrap - wraps?
These could be regional preferances, where are you?
Keep posting,
Winston
