love this the language is so thick, like the presence of death. i like the reference to the body and the importance of skin and identity in the passing of spirit.
Love the inclusion of natural 'juices' milk, honey...and their placing with indian ink. its integral part of nature.

Charming cameo this Stella with lots of images to raise a familiar smile - liked especially the 'fickle four-legged friends' but left to wonder at the wider implications of the scene.

Good luck with the book. You deserve all the accolades!

Andreas,
Your poem "I have abandoned blood" reminded me of the following poem by Huey P. Newton so I thought I would share it with you:
One day I suddenly realized I had forgotten, name age sex address race, I had found myself
What is greater than love or hate, I will tell you then,
what is greater than love is the relationship I have with the tip of my finger.
Want me to break it down? I can break it down.
It's a simple concept.
If I define myself as my thumb, I deny myself my fingers.
If I define myself as my fingers, I deny myself my hand.
If I define myself as my hand, I deny myself my arm.
If I define myself as my arm, I deny myself my body.
If I define myself as my body, I deny myself my universe.
I diminish myself.
Peace after revolution,
J. Otis

I'm not sure that the title implies hope - I'd say more of a playing down of the sadness - maybe a wry nod to the fact that us poets are prone to the dramatic and that this is, as the poem suggests, just a mood. I like the way you express yourself - the restlessness you convey - the idea of music being torn is a vivid one. You do carry the reader with you in that mood.

Yes - I'd agree with Steve here. The only way we can live on (as far as can be certain) is in the love and memory of others. I would love to be remembered in words like this - to have someone write me a poem. I found this moving.

I don't really understand this one Ray - unless perchance it is about the torture and murder of an innocent patient by a voodoo doctor...
Hopefully you'll explain at some point. It's an intriguing one.

I suggest with the upmost respect
that a little more thought given
to various lines
i.e. "his peacock painted face"
that to me reads
as though he has painted
the picture of a peacock on his face.
my suggestion-
facially portraying a peacock?
also suggest on the last line-
bursts not "burst"
nevertheless it is still a great poem.
hope you dont mind my 'umble opinion.
thanks for sharing.Stef Wilde.

Hi Isobel. Thanks for your comment. I'd never read The Highwayman so I looked it up. It's amazing, certainly there's a surprisingly similar theme but I'm enormously flattered you'd make any comparisons between the writing in Noyes work and my own effort. Maybe I'm old fashioned but I feel I should get the hang of traditional structures before I would be confident to try something more contemparary, maybe it's a bit of a security blanket!

Hi Laura (Leiberfraumilch), you had me worried for a moment. Thought I'd trangressed an unfathomable rule somewhere. I go with my observation as you know and what I wrote was about a refreshing group of young foreign ladies at the local Wetherspoons who quite uplifted the atmosphere from the usual retired stolid folk who sit around. Hope you're OK though.
