This one was influenced by Banksy's version and I stole the title from Val Cook!
Written before breakfast, it could probably benefit from some editing but there is no time for that. Tomorrow it will be so yesterday! LOL

Hi Lee,
And welcome to WOL. I guess the best way to get into the site is to take a look around - especially the blog and discusions - and if you see something that's interesting drop a comment in! You'll soon find everyone is generally friendly and quite helpful if you think you might need some feedback, advice or assistance. Go for it - and have fun.
Regards,
A.E.

If you can be bovvered - my son has a version of cubase and can fiddle round with your poem - adding echo at the beginning and end - you would need to send me the audio file...also tell me whether you want single or double echo and where - the double echo is very heavy - you wouldn't want too much of it.

Hi,
I honestly hadn't picked up that i had used aspiration twice, well. i suppose i knew but didn't, kind of!
Inspiration definately fits better for the last stanza so changes have been made.
Thank you

Hi Greg,
Thanks for visiting "Neil" and your generous comments. I'm glad his story moved you. It's something I've had in my mind since I was a child, and sharing it was, I suppose, a kind of minor therapy.

Hi Kath,
Did you have a dictionary for breakfast yesterday? This works well for me as you acheive meaning with economy. The one word you might wish to look at (and I see you use it twice, so it might be a typo!) is the second "aspiration" (second line, last stanza)Did you mean "inspiration"? It's just that it seems to make more sense.

A.E.

Hi Lynn,
I wanted to say that I like the picture you paint here. I like her cheekiness -
"Were there other hi's?"
You might wish to consider a couple of things which jarred a little:
"Oblivious to wetting her jeans."
Although your readers will understand exactly what you mean, there is a subconscious subtext with this line! Perhaps consider phrasing it a little differently? Say something like "seaspray on her jeans?"
The other line which seems a little incongruous is:
"Her hands in his copper fur."
I think you'll probably know where I'm coming from! Maybe you could rearrange your rhyme scheme to enable you to change it to "hair" or "mane"?
These are simply observations - it's your poem, your words and if you are happy with them then that's all that really matters!
Regards,
A.E.

I like most of your work, always read it even if I don't always comment, but I can't make up my mind about this.
I don't know if you know Radiohead's 'Creep'? - that conveys similar sentiments, but perhaps a little more tongue-in-cheek? I feel that you could perhaps inject a little more irony in to this, invite your audience to empathise with the feeling most of us get from time to time of not being good enough, rather than to pity you for it. It's not a funny subject but it's wanting a little humour, does that make sense? - feel free to ignore if you think I'm talking rubbish. :)

This is a weird one John - as I could only expect from you! At least blame seems to be sqarely on man's shoulders with a poor throat slashed Pandora lying in a pool of blood...blood on his hands indeed...
An interesting take - the earth coming out to swallow man up - aint that just a prophecy?

No, but that's where this came from - a friend was having a bad time and she told me that she pulled over and listened to music and watched the moon. So I wrote it for her to cheer her up.

Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. A sequel? Argh, don't think i'm up to that!!As for apologising, well, i think it's in my nature to say for sorry for most things i do! The stuff i write just seems to be there and i kinda feel like a fraud when people comment positively on them. I suppose i should just say ta and get on with it ha ha.
Thank you for a lovely comment x

Hi Kath,
I missed this somewhere in the "Pandora" mix - so apologies for not commenting earlier. This is a great exercise in imagination and building up a picture and mood. I think you could do well to think about a sequel to this - the ending seems to suggest it. And I don't think it's a "sort of" - it's your story, your take on the theme. Never apologise for what you write!
Regards,
A.E.

I love the honesty of this piece.
the language is beautiful. especially loved the lines:
"No thought can form while she has not spurned
all I can do is hang myself on her polite decline"
the defeatism (sp?) is so brave, I lost myself in this completely. excellent.

Tee hee - was never good at maths...
Re the audio - it is probably only worth fiddling round as an experiment if it is easy for you to do so. It is far better with the echo than without - a sound effect that really fits a purpose. You may find it works better all the way through - it was just an idea... x

Thanks Rodney. If I do that though it becomes less a poem and more a piece of prose. it's just a snapshot - a glimpse across a landscape at something(one) beautiful...or supposed to be
The mountain: readers choice - but carrying on from the opener, I hope that people will connect the two (especially the shape) and think nose.
Sam Cooke - everything he sang was with dignity, especially for the time. Hear whatever you would like - I hear 'Change gonna come'! Nothing is better than Sam Cooke singing that, not even the sky.
Cheers
