Hi DK! What about the guillottine, (can't remember how you spell it!)?
Rather a final solution a la Hitler, but would definitely remove your angst.

comfortably imprisoned

Hi here d.k. - not sure I agree totally about the disappearance of
manners or common courtesies. I still experience them in my
dotage (maybe because of it?), but nonetheless they exist - often
accompanied by a smile that lubricates the wheels of modern life.
I keep in mind the need to display them myself and invariably get a
like response. And if I don't the effort was still worth it and who knows, the recipient may just remember later and learn from their
rebuff and "play it forward" in subsequent contact with others.

dk - partiality to alliteration stems from the richness of the English language and my fondness for rhythm. It's interesting that composer Stephen Sondheim (West Side Story etc.) held it in low regard whilst
Jerry Herman (Hello Dolly etc.) had no such qualms. I guess it's a
question of trying for the best effect in a given context. ?

Capitalism...communism - whatever!
What happened to the intelligence and diplomatic services -
supposed to serve our needs at colossal public expense? Where
were they when the infection emerged? Then came the oh-so-
slow reaction that exacerbated the threat - with the failure to
offer proper protection at the outset to those most likely to be
victims of a virus that attacks those with least ability to resist.
Too much too soon = overwhelmed !
It's not as though the world hasn't known this sort of thing before.
We are supposed to learn from the lessons of history so why have
our public servants failed so badly to keep up to speed now when,
in their much touted global world, ease of contact has never been
so widely available.

Hi David, my shoes have finally dried out and now I'm setting sail for other climes...
I've said it on your poems but I'll say it here too; one of my favourite joys of visiting WoL is getting the chance to see the world through your eyes. The way you capture things big and small in your poems is always such a pleasure to read.
Thank you!

Speaking for myself, I said "pre-diabetes"...the prelude (with suitable
medical warning) that too much sugar is the problem. I have a sister
who has suffered the type 2 arrival late in life and it has affected her
in other intrusive and unwanted ways that have caused problems
ever since. I believe a sedentary/till job (now retired) in a major food outlet - with tempting discounts to staff on food not sold on any given
day - was the trigger to the weight gain that seemed to herald its
appearance. No wonder the alarm bells are ringing in a certain
large country in which it can now be said that no longer are people
living off the fat of the land,, but that the fat are dying off the land !

Writ on the 6th of August
Took long while, (was a curse)
Titled my 'First Efforts at
New-Age Poetry'
It gotta lotta comments
Which, yes, did pleaseth me
Here are the first few lines
What one might call a 'taster'
But then again dk you might
Think it's all a waster
Time.....
"Beauty is a constant.
To roam the path is to become one with it.
We vibrate, we heal, we are reborn

I get that same feeling when I see old punks still donning the trappings of their youth. My comment on your poem was not meant as a criticism on content - it was an attempt to start a discussion regarding revolutions and behavior.

Your printer needs ink?
No wonder it's grumbling
It needs an ink-drink
You will have to ask it
(Kindly), which brand
They're so bloody fussy
(Nothing too bland)
Now dk how'd YOU
Feel not getting 'INK'
A brand of your beer
To drink, wink, wink, wink
So go to your printer
On bended knees
Ask for forgiveness
Say which brand now, please?
I could go on
In this foolhardy way
You ask "What's a cartridge?"
Damn!, forgot, another day ?
