Hi Ray! Have to catch up on your writing, as it is always well worth it, and I have missed a lot. Been in the throes of trying to manage Zoom for teaching, -webinars, courses and tutorials on Utube. Some of those spoke such weird English I needed the text!!!! One girl kept on talking bout the Zoom 'porrl', and being notoriously thick, it took me a few minutes to realise she meant the Zoom Portal!!!!! The tragic thing is that I am supposed to be teaching English! Hope you haven't been Copvided even in a minor fashion. Am getting really bored with not being able to go anywhere much, although one shouldn't complain, when one thinks what the hospital staff are coping with. Here more than 700, doctors, nurses and paramedics died in the spring go.
All the best, Jennifer

Nice irony, Ray as always. Think we have a right ot 'sit on our bums' now, as we have'worked our balls off', metaphorically for me, in the past. Don't know why we should feel depressed at being 'non-essential 'according to some. In some ways I can't wait to die, as my family would then realise how essential for their general and financial wellbeing I was!!!!! Not really worth it though!

I think us lightworkers around the world are already beginning to challenge the rules. Like Gandalf said its the small acts of kindness amongst the little folks who challenge great evil. It was Sam who encoraged
Frodo to throw the ring into the fire , not the great wizards or the strong tall soldiers or the Hardy Dwarves or the magical elves but Sam, small miracles happen every day, this world is a beautiful place its the little things that matter start from the little things, everything will grow from there, its already happening in the USA, the times are shifting the earth's vibrations are moving at speed xx ,

A powerful poignant reminder of the hopes of a young soldier and the horror of industrialised warfare. My maternal uncle died in the Somme campaign, aged 24. One of the legions of bright young
lives snuffed out in the mud and blood.

Very topical and entertaining - as expected from this source.
So the not so United States of America has a Post-it president-elect.
Hail to the Chief. Or, as Trump supporters might be inclined to call it: Hail to the Thief ! ? One for the courts on what is emerging, it seems.

-freedom
but is it truly achievable?
we suppose that depends on which version is sought after

Aw we all feel like this, both men and women. What other women took my place? Its that fine line between jealousy and possession and letting someone have their freedom. I believe if you love someone enough you let them go if they want to go, because love is free. But it's easier said than done. Then there's in love and just love, unrequited love, all sorts of love, with all this love around why is there so much hate in the world? Xx

Aisha,
An excellent poem; an exhortation to spur us forward during these difficult of times. I was particularly drawn to the third stanza which is sound advice for all of us. Television and other forms of light entertainment have occupied us for far too long. We need to turn our attention to acquiring new skills and now is the time.
Thank you for this

I think religion creates divides and humankind not God. Church yards seem to be the favourite places for kids to hang out even now. They smoke cannabis and hang around, but rolling around behind the gravestones sounds fun, might do that on my next date. However it's dark and cold and muddy. Maybe not. X

Thankyou to everyone for your comments and likes. It is so encouraging to know that other poets appreciate one's work. The interesting thing about this offering is that the title, which I thought up when looking at the trees silhouetted in the (not quite) night sky, inspired the poem. Sometimes it is the other way round.

Lovely poem.
We did sparklers
Had toffee apples
And treacle toffee.
And watched all the fireworks going off in the sky.
. We couldn't go to the organised display like we normally do and all the fairground rides but we made the most of it
Find a positive.
In every darkness
Reach for the light
And pray that tomorrow brings
A brighter day
Xx blessings Julie
