Don - the last line is great.
A little tinkering would make it bounce along better e.g. replace 'diminished' with 'reduced'.

Thalia and I wish to thank you all for your best wishes on our budding relationship. The ceremony at Mt Olympus (covered in the social pages of Mount Olympus Times) was attended by all her friends (the other Muses). They were sad to see her leave but I'm sure she'll be back for holidays. ?

MC Newberry -- thank you for not taking this literally.
Too often , I think, people tend to jerk their knees and want punishment -- they want blood instead of investigation into why individuals do the things they do. How are we going to grow as a society and stop the trauma -> victimization cycle if we just hang and clang everyone ? How can we stop it if we don't understand the cause?
It's not perfect and or never will be, but there's more effective and less effective when it comes to cost, reoffense ratios, and treatability to certain types of crime.

Google for fees. All currencies accepted except pounds (Brexit crisis). Favour drachmas or Aussie $.

This is so good Isobel....
She snuffed out, (POOF!) at 12 o'clock
In a quirky kinda way
Some say controversial-like
(Let's have a beer hey hey...)
The poet who is writing this
( Also a quirky type)
Is also controversial
And likes to run on hype
(He asks not to be celebrated on snuffing out. What's Facebook he asks?...) ?

Some of the main offenders of pollution would not even allow such demonstrations in their countries. The UK is a very liberal country and always facilitates such demonstrations, and public opinion is generally in favour of the demonstration, but that initial support can often turn to opposition when people's lives are unduly affected.

Good subject - worthy of poetic enterprise!
A recently departed Minister for Prisons (Tory) was big on
keeping people out of prison in the name of rehabilitation - but
the impression was that saving money was a more likely imperative
for his thinking. After all, they even passed a "Rehabilitation of
Offenders Act" years ago that allowed a list of convictions for a range of offences to be deleted after given periods of time.
And nowadays, it seems that there are numerous "sentences"
available to the courts before imprisonment is imposed - surely
the warning light for anyone who really wants to be rehabilitated
before the prison cell door clangs shut.

I can see what you were meaning now. Don't get me started. It's exactly the same here.
The idea I got from your 3-liner was more slewed. Lost in deep thought, walking in the space of your mind.
Yep Ruth, I've established communication lines with the aliens. Space Station Orstralia (that's me) to Space Alien Central. Come in SAC. All I get is crackle Ruth?.....
I've also made contact with the afterllfe (reported in a previous blog) and returned to report they have a bar (plenty spirits) and angels in diaphanous gowns. Keith wants a gay bar and I want to dabble in poetry with the girls. Nigel will no doubt be pleased with my findings.
So Ruth, two contacts with 'beings of mystery' in one year. Something to tell the grandkids.

Thanks for the comment on The Way I Write, Keith.
The poem was inspired backwards, it was thinking about those potential friends you cross paths with occasionally and wish you'd got to find out the story you feel there is between you (but for whatever reason don't get chance). It struck me that I feel the same way about some of the poem titles I've been dragging along with me for months or years; so sure that there is a poem there somewhere.
I can relate to your description of how inspiration can strike and how there can be langurs between those moments. I also love those times when you put pen to paper without any prior inspiration and suddenly find that you have poem fully formed right there. Though, those times are fewer and farther between.
Regardless, thank you for sharing your process. I really hope other people might too. Tom.

Is definitely not lost in thought

Rhyme and rhythm critical
Scansion makes it lilt
Needs to carry message
That's how my rhymes are built
More than simple Jack and Jill
Who up the hill they went
Diddle daddled up on top
Till they both were spent
Now children listen closely (yes??)
What Teacher Don does say (Yes Teacher Don)
On top of hill was hayloft
In which the hay, they play
But Teacher Don please tell us
What currency was spent?
And please what did they spend it on?
To all purpose intent?
Help Mae? Do I say drachmas? (exist in JJ time? Were JJ Greek?). And what's to buy on top of a hill?
I've got myself in a right fix here.....
Teacher Don?... we waiting for well-thought out answers....
Think I'll hit the bottle Mae....?

Mae I wouldn't want to
Lose her, she's the best
We're working our relationship
We're gonna past the test
(Of time....)
You don't have drachmas anymore?
Mt 'Lympus bit behind?
That's why I had to euro-swap
Of course we didn't mind
(Any currency was OK by us. Even Aussie $...)
Yes, Thalia she does push me Mae
Towards a higher cause
Is not that what they're meant to do?
(Hold on Mae while I pause)
(Pause........................)
I know they do it out of love
All for us poet's good
How often do we think back, say
Would've, could've, should ?
No way I'll live the last line
Ignore my Muse of Mirth
I'd never trade my Thalia in
For all drachmas on earth
(But there are none left Don....)
(Oh?. I'm sure Greeks have lots of jar-fulls hiding in their cupboards.....)
(Poor deluded soul....) ?

concentrate on and 'hear'.
