Cos I haven't wriggled in and mucked up their fun
Am I a red fox or a grey fox?

I've often thought it's funny how as you go through life from childhood to old age, you go through stages of knowing nothing, to thinking you've got it all sussed to eventually realising that you really haven't.
Shades of grey are all there are, and an open mind is the best we can do.
Really liked this Lisa.

The 'Poet in Training' label was not in jest. I only started writing two years ago and felt I hadn't earned the title of 'Poet' at that stage. At the bottom of my work I would always put:
I want to create And I want to share
I then found WOL and now feel happy to be called a 'poet'. Albeit an offbeat and skewed one. Not screwed.

Thank you kindly for your comment.
It's quiet easy for someone to only see the black and white in life. But once you introduce the grey into your vision; it's clear to see we all struggle.
And every struggle is indeed the same. It may not appear that way ' but the emoctions behind the struggles are felt by all

Well Don thank you so much, and Lisa I am definitely humbled by your comments, thank you also my friend. I've been the proud owner of an inflatable kayak, (Quite a good one), for about three years now. I have inflated it once, and once only, in the living room, to make sure everything was ok. It was.
I then deflated it and packed it away ready for, "The big trip."
This obviously never came, and nor has it yet.
But maybe, one day.......

Lysa,
Words truly spoken which are well phrased to encourage us all. The line, "while others seem to have it easy" are good but in reality people often use camouflage to conceal their difficulties. We are all on a roller coaster of highs and lows.
A good poem and thank you
Keith

the poem was just about
how some people do not change,
live in the past
right down to the same clothes etc.

Thanks Jennifer! That all makes sense of course. A trap was a fanciful term for the necessity to conform which he happily complied with. The phrase stuck in the past comes to mind but then we all have our favourites. He never wore jeans and mum never wore trousers!

I hardly feel qualified to comment on this John . I believe all perversions of human nature can be examined in retrospect but the Holocaust stands alone in terms of the sheer scale and secrecy at the time. I have read widely on the subject. I found Primo Levi's personal account perhaps the most moving and of course the Hitchcock's film too so ghastly.
You have struck a rich seam of truth about the compliance of ordinary people .like the mass beliefs that can dominate acquiescence. Perhaps persuasion and fear can go side by side.
Your poem is successful for me for its ability to examine without emotional overload and an inspiration . If nothing else we have to be wary of ideology as delusion.
With respect Ray

I'm a mixed bag when all is said and done. My serious and comic always fight to be centre stage. It's I who holds the key to the stage door.

Your sence of humour is needed
in more ways than one
So stop scratching your ballowx
And get those poems done
You tend to make me giggle
During which I tend to wiggle
Laughing so hard
I'm hungry
Where the f is my bagal
Been a silly git
Requires a level of wit
And you don Matthew's
You sure do have it ?
It's all fun and games
Until you get serious
Then we're left wondering
Has don gone mysterious
Your poems are always a pleasure to read
Some take time
Others require speed
But when you make us laugh
Sure that's all anyone really needs
So please
Keep them coming
Were waiting anxiously ?

Wow friend.
This is by far the best poem I have had the privilege of reading since joining WOL.
The flow flew effortlessly ' the verses wore empowering and very much heartfelt.
To know one has the choice of alone time amongst the chaos of life is fulfilling enough.
One human can not be stretched so far without feeling defeated.
This is truly remarkable and was needed today. Your poem has started my flame once again. Thank you for sharing your beautiful talent x

Yes, I think we've all got that probably never to be realised escape plan. It's probably more important for what it represents than what it actually is. For me it's the idea of peacefully drifting on the waters.

It's a thought that has never crossed my mind don ?
But the debt of my poem runs deep. Until you experience similar, you could never understand the raw emotions that hit you harder than a speeding train whom lost it's brakes.
It's a whirlpool of absolute numbness.
Anger is one emoction I felt deeply. I was so angry and heartbroken that I allowed the blame game to win over facts.
At 30 to have one parent left , to then be frightful of loosing another as you witness doctors not wanting to try other forms of medical use , it's just the chemo they want to continuously pump her vains with , you sit and watch them disintegrate rapidly at such speed to hold there hand as they scream crying telling you they can't go trew with another round. You see fear and sadness and the helpless feeling takes over leaving no room for anything eles in your mind other than a new treatment. And as you try and try to help more and more you notice how reluctant the doctors are to even try. ??

Keith,
'Hope....where is the origin of this source?'
I had the opportunity to meet a refugee who had fled into Zambia from the DRC. Apart from her life, she had lost literally everything -including her children who were brutally slain due to so-called Ethnic-cleansing.
That woman epitomized the resilience of the human spirit: the ability to retain hope in the most hopeless of situations.
In my opinion, hope is an intrinsic human quality which lends much credibility to belief in a Creator, as opposed to the Evolution theory.
Keith, Lisa and Vautaw, I appreciate your comments, guys!

I've read a few love lost poems over the years and God knows I've experienced the feelings, most if I'm honest, I didn't really like a I think perhaps they either weren't subtle enough or, they were so subtle they didn't connect. This one though, for me, was perfect, like being softly punched into submission. Sometimes I say, "Favourite line was..." but singling out a favourite line in this poem would be to do the others a disservice, I really loved every well crafted, well balanced line. Not over embellished, not underwritten, not too flouncy, not too stark. Just about perfect, I think.

One thing I am so grateful for in life is that cancer has not struck me. It seems to strike people out of nowhere. With no warning. We all live from day to day with this 'possibility' hanging over our heads. One can't worry and let it get us down. We can only empathise and support when needed.
I wonder how many deaths were caused by cancer before we knew all about it?
