It's a struggle...

It’s a struggle writing poetry for Ryman
Cos there’s one too many syllables in highwayman…
So perhaps I’ll write some chopped up prose instead
And knock this rhythm business on the head
Exchange my metre for a ruler
We all know blank verse is cooler
Oh it’s a struggle writing poetry for Ryman
It’s a struggle writing poetry for Ryman
Unless, as luck would have it, you’re a fire fighter
For I burn up like a laser
At the sight of one eraser
Paper products, pencils, prit-sticks
Swell my lips up more than lipsticks
Oh it’s a struggle writing poetry for Ryman
It’s a struggle writing poetry for Ryman
Unless, as luck would have it, you’re a homicidal person
For I turn into a killer
At the sight of brown Manila
And you can’t set too much store
On all those sheaves of white A4
Oh it’s a struggle writing poetry for Ryman
I could versify on stationary forever
Eulogise on how it holds us all together
On how blue tack has changed to white
So now it cleans off with a wipe
Hold a paper clip convention
Celebrate this great invention
But it’s a struggle writing poetry for Ryman
It’s a struggle writing poetry for Ryman
Since my ex was always visiting it time and
Time again.
Used to stock pile yellow post its
Till the trail he left got on my wick
So much so, I had to leave
the colour yellow makes me heave
Oh it’s a struggle writing poetry for Ryman
It’s a struggle writing poetry for Ryman
Oh yes it’s a struggle writing poetry for Ryman
Ryman
