Jackie Hagan & Gerry Potter: LIVE POETRY
This event on 29th September 2009 at 18:00 has past.

Jackie Hagan and Gerry Potter will be reading from their latest collections (The Wisdom of the Jumble Sale and Planet Young respectively). The event is free, with refreshments and no pre-booking, so do come along and see two of the northwest's - and the UK's - leading performance poets in action.
Jackie Hagan is a Manchester-based performance poet, originally from Skem. Awarded Best Emerging Poet 2006 by The Poetry Kit, The Wisdom of the Jumble Sale [Flapjack Press, 2009], is Jackie’s second poetry collection, following Shut Your Eyes and Put Out Your Hand [Citizen32, 2007]. She has also edited several poetry anthologies and guest edited Citizen32 magazine. She facilitates creative writing sessions for adults with mental health needs and peforms poetry round the UK. Her play, Help, has been performed at Contact Theatre and Mark Thomas once called her a genius (although this has nothing to do with poetry and more to do with her suggestion that all bailiffs should be middle class).
Gerry Potter is a playwright, actor and the successful regeneration of gay scouse socialist transvestite icon Chloe Poems. His new collection Planet Young is published by Flapjack Press in 2009. His previous incarnation saw the release of Universal Rentboy [Bad Press, 2000], Adult Entertainment [Route, 2002] & Li’l Book O’Manchester [Mucusart, 2007] and he has the distinction of being in both the poetry and philosophy sections of Harvard University Library.
