Harriet Tarlo lives near Holmfirth and teaches part-time at Sheffield Hallam University. Her exciting poetry engages vividly with landscape and places − Cornwall, Durham, N. Yorks − not as representation, but embodying the sound and rhythm of human relationships with the outside. Recent publications include Poems 1990−2003 (Shearsman, 2004) and Nab (Etruscan, 2005); ‘… this exquisite poem [Brancepeth Beck] possesses a magical freshness’ (Tim Allen). Her reading will be preceded by a presentation on eco-poetry by Michael Ayton.
