Poole Poetry Group launch event

A first meeting to introduce the Poole Poetry Group who were initially funded through a grant given by the Co operative Community Fund.

They have a full programme of events & workshops for the forthcoming months at the Fourways Centre which has ample parking, disabled access and is on a main bus route from Poole to Bournemouth. They will be providing light refreshments and a raffle to help with group funds.

The meeting will be launched by the 'First Edition Writers' magazine' who will be giving a talk about Publishers' expectations when receiving submissions. The Vice Chairperson of this area committee for the Co operative will also be attending.

The Poole Poetry Group intends to bring together like-minded people who have a wish or desire to write poetry; whether it is for fun, therapy or to be published. The group is of a self help nature with an opportunity to learn various writing skills, build confidence in the poet / poetess and reach out to a wider audience. Promoting itself and its poets by gathering with other organizations, schools, clubs, libraries and church groups to encourage others to join us and flourish with this written art.

Many individuals, who would never normally dream of writing poetry, may find themselves doing so either in the wake of a personal loss – the death of a loved one in particular, or the collapse of a relationship, or because of a major traumatic event in which they or someone close to them has been involved. Writing poetry can help to express those feelings, that they may not be able to release through verbal channels.
