Poetry at the Castle

This event is held at Cafetessen the cafe in the castle. The cafe is open from 6pm so why not come and eat first.
Tonight's reading is the last of the 2009 series and features Peter Street.
Peter's fifth collection: Thumbing From Lipik To Pakrac New and Selected Poems( ISBN 978-1-906742-00-3 Waterloo Press) has just been published. He is the recipient of a highly prestigious grant from The Royal Literary Fund.
His work has been seen across Europe on German and Dutch Television and heard on several occasions on The B.B.C. World Service, B.B.C. Radio Five Live and B.B.C. G.M.R. I.T.V. (English television) broadcast a twelve minute documentary about his time as a war poet during the Croatian/Bosnian conflict. Ed Beck, Wall Street Journal said, “ He is like a medieval wondering minstrel who brings his art to the people”
Peter Street has also worked as a Baker and Confectioner,Tree Surgeon/ Arborist, Head Gardener, Gravedigger, Exhumer, Head Chef, B.B.C Greater Manchester Radio Arts Correspondent, War Artist, Qualified Youth Worker, Hotel Porter to name just a few!
