WIND-UP
This event on 19th November 2009 at 20:00 has past.
Contact: L.Tempest@manchester.gov.uk
it's in the Science & Humanities Library, Great Hall, 1st Floor at
Manchester Central Library
Performance artist NAOMI KASHIWAGI breaks every single quiet-in-the-library rule with gramophones, records. lock grooves and acoustic experimentation.
Naomi, who performed here a couple of years ago to great acclaim, uses wind-up gramophone players and old vinyl 78s to explore & exploit the amazing acoustic in our domed Great Hall (the Science & Humanities Library). She explains that her work is 'concerned with transforming the utilitarian & conceptual function of obsolete objects'.....her favourite records include 'Rock Around the Clock' and 'In the Mood' plus a recent new acquisition - Pinky & Perky (remember them??)
So - to hear Bill Haley & Glenn Miller as you've never heard them before, DO come along!
