One poet born in the South and one born in the North of Ireland who’ll make you believe there is an Irish gift with language – an ability to write authentically with a sure and musical touch in poems that shift, surprise and even stun you.
John McAuliffe
"John McAuliffe was born in 1973 and grew up in Listowel, County Kerry. In 2000 he won the RTE Poet of the Future Award and, in 2002, the Sean Dunne National Poetry Award. He now lives in Manchester, where he co-directs the University of Manchester’s Centre for New Writing. His first collection, A Better Life (2002), was shortlisted for a Forward Prize.
James Caruth was born in Belfast in 1953. He lived in South Africa for a number of years before settling in Sheffield. His debut collection A Stone's Throw is published by Staple Press; a long poem sequence, Dark Peak was published by Longbarrow Press in 2008.
