Apples & Snakes (www.applesandsnakes.org) present:

A night of spoken word to inspire, delight and provoke!
Take a big bite out of the New Year with your host, resident soul-jazz floozy Mama Tokus.

Featuring: Byron Vincent – slam champion Byron Vincent was (poorly) educated within the cloying conurbation of various northern sink estates. His flowery name and love of language ensured that his journey was a challenging one. Never a defeatist he fought back with poetry. This was a terrible strategy and he regularly got his head kicked in. Thankfully festival audiences proved more receptive, and he is now firmly established as one of the most original and entertaining poets on the block.

Rose Cook – Devon legend and Dangerous Cardigan, Rose is a firm believer in the soothing power of the spoken word. She will be sharing new work from her recently published collection ‘Taking Flight’, and teaching you that - like a chilli in your cocoa - warm words often contain a hidden bite.

Sally Jenkinson – Sally makes space for tiny observations about people and the little beautiful and terrifying things that go on between people. Sometimes she says words out loud in front of people. Tonight is one of those times.

Plus special guest Rachel Pantechnicon - Rachel is many things: the best-dressed woman on the poetry circuit; the woman who won the 2004 Glastonbury Festival Poetry Slam (and perhaps the only person on site wearing court-shoes) and the author of the well-known story-books about Cheesegrater Leg-Iron Lion.

Price: £4.00
