Join us from 7pm for a delicious winter feast of hearty, heart-warming food in the Engine House, whilst in the gig space feast your ears and be delighted by the talents of Manchester's finest versifiers. Then dance the night away to the sounds of the choicest music from the last five decades, all the tunes you want to hear and the hidden gems you didn't know you wanted to hear.
Poetical entertainment is provided by:
Dominic Berry, Manchester's premier Queer Vegan Poet, Commonword's Super Hero of Slam 2009 and winner of a Forever Manchester Award for his poetry performance in last year's Not Part Of Festival. Author of 'Tomorrow, I Will Go Dancing' (his debut book of verse) and a host of Freed Up Poets (Manchester's busiest open mic night), Dominic is always gigging somewhere- check his website www.dominicberry.net to see where he's at next!
Michael Wilson - bisexual, bipolar, bilingual, by mistake, bi everything. michael wilson has been performing poetry for five years, slam champion and national finalist of both the cheltenham literature festival all stars final two years running and the bbc national slam competition. he is also a member of the islington mill art academy.
Musical entertainment is provided by your dedicated team of Archivists, presenting you with an eclectic mix of music from the last five decades, leaving no genre untapped. Including the best of sixties garage, classic reggae, sick 80s hip hop, frontal lobe psych, deep jams from the hallelujah chorus, voodoo rock & roll, all manner of polyrhythmic perversity, New York no wave, early disco gems, punk funk, post punk, new wave and synth pop. For starters.
