On Saturday the 10th of April, A Poem and a Pint is off on its rambles again, to Greenodd Village Hall, where our special guest will be the exciting young poet, Emma Jones. Emma was born in Sydney to an Australian father and British mother, and studied at the universities of Sydney and Cambridge. Her first book, The Striped World, has won the Forward Prize for Best First Collection, the Queensland Premier’s Literary Award for Best Collection, and is shortlisted for the John Llewellyn Rhys Prize. A well-travelled poet, who has also lived in Germany, Italy and America, for the last year she has been poet-in-residence at the Wordsworth Trust in Grasmere, and our feeling is that she is destined for great things.
There will, as ever, be opportunities for local poets to take floor slots during the evening, and music will be provided by Three Days of Rain, whose original mix of contemporary acoustic tones and three part harmonies have made them one of the leading acts in the North West.
There will be a bar to cater for the Pints, Mark Carson will be on hand to keep proceedings in order, and the whole glorious affair kicks off at 7.30 p.m. What better way to celebrate Spring!
