Long standing poetry night 8pm at the Albert (next to Huddersfield Library) with guest poets:
Our readers this month are Nina Boyd, Simon Currie, Mark Hinchliffe and Josie Walsh
Nina Boyd was overall winner of the 2009 Poetry Business Book and Pamphlet Competition. Her first collection, Dear Mr Asquith, is published this week.
Simon Currie was told forty years ago by a friend, R.S.Thomas, that he had no talent for poetry. He attends Poetry Business (Sheffield), Bradford Beehive and Pennine Poets meetings.
Mark Hinchliffe first read at the Albert in October 1998 and was part of the second generation Albert Poets to arrange readings. His main poetic inspiration is Ted Hughes.
Josie Walsh is a Pennine poet. Her pamphlet and two collections have been well-received, and she has read on radio and at Festivals, including Ilkley and Adelaide Fringe. After a residency at Wakefield Cathedral, she now edits Under Glass, a community poetry magazine at Pugneys Country Park.
