Launch - Poetry Review 100:4
This event on 13th January 2011 at 18:30 has past.
Launch of the Poetry Review winter issue with Sean O’Brien, Karen McCarthy Woolf and Fiona Sampson.
The latest issue of Poetry Review, The Poet’s Progress, explores the process of writing. Poets Sean O’Brien and Karen McCarthy Woolf describe their experience of how a poem gets written, discussing how matters of form and technique enable the imagination to do its work. Both poets will then read a selection of new poems.
Sean O’Brien offers an enticing preview of his latest collection November due out in April 2011. His six individual poetry collections have all won awards, most recently The Drowned Book, which won both the 2007 Forward and T.S. Eliot Prizes, the first time a book has won both awards.
Karen McCarthy Woolf’s poetry pamphlet The Worshipful Company of Pomegranate Slicers was selected as a New Statesman Book of the year. She is the editor of two critically acclaimed anthologies, Bittersweet: Black Women's Contemporary Poetry and Kin and her work also appears in Ten: New Poets from Spread the Word (Bloodaxe, 2010).
