Hello all,

After a sell out spectacular last month with Jackie Hagan, Broken Flood Lights and Angela Smith on Jamal's birthday/Christmas Special OpenMind are back with more birthday madness.

This time Indigo is having a palindrome party (he's quite into his palindromes) so he'll be celebrating his 22nd birthday with some truly amazing acts.

Headlining OpenMind this month will be highly reputed poetry/theatre collective Pen-ultimate hot off the heels of a successful tour of their highly accredited piece 'A Night on the Tiles'. The Sunday Times describe them as 'A company to watch in 2010' and we're sure they'll prove at OpenMind's first event of 2011 that they're a company to watch in 2011 too.

This month isn't just a celebration of Indigo's birthday but a celebration of OpenMind itself so two of our guest artists are OpenMind regulars that have been acknowledged with guest slots.

Hugh Polehampton is a witty and intelligent poet very active in the Manchester and Chorlton theatre/poetry scene.

Benny-jo Zahl is another poet with insightful and intelligent words flowing from a booming masculine voice that makes for a beautiful listening experience.

Our final guest act will be the Manchester based up and coming Unstable Elementz hip hop collective, they've released a great mixtape recently and will be sharing some of their thought provoking political pieces with us.

As usual there'll also be the 5 minute OpenSpace slots, FOUR of these slots have already been taken prior to even making this event page and we were full up last month so sign up now to avoid disappointment, it's going to be a huge night.

Via bus:

The easiest ways to find it are either walk via Oldham Street behind Piccadilly Gardens and follow the signs to the Buddhist Centre, or to turn onto Turner Street by turning left at the road behind English Lounge if coming from Shudehill Bus Station.
