A poetry slam is a live democratic poetry competition where random members of the audience are made judges giving scores to a series of 3 minute spoken word performances with an Olympic-style score system.

This is your chance to become part of the spoken word slam brilliance that has graced this here fair city for over a year, in the warm and wonderful surroundings of fabulous venue The Emperor.

A.F. Harrold is a gentleman who does things with words which aren’t necessarily normal, on the stage, on the page and in schools for adults, children and animals. He manages to get by somehow.

He has spent years writing things down and reading things out and, along the way, several hundreds of people have smiled wryly, chuckled happily and been mildly surprised at the good bit. Let’s be fair: the good bit is very good...

And he’ll be brilliantly supported by Magic Phil. Phil has been performing stand-up and poetry on stages, park benches and television since the late 80s. Entertaining countless crowds with his unique brand of politically-charged rapid-fire doggerel, he has recently been setting his words to music with his musical side project, the Spaghetti Faction. He has been print published in media spanning most genres, and is author of two collections of shorts: Spaghetti Fiction and Spaghetti Fiction Too with another two books in the pipeline.
