Ann Sansom reads with newer poets Nina Boyd and Clive McWilliam and performance by singer-songwriter Jo Rose.
Ann Sansom has published six collections of poetry; had work published in several Forward/Faber anthologies, has written and directed plays for stage and radio. Ann is also a director of The Poetry Business, which publishes \\'The North\\' magazine and Smith/Doorstop books. Ann is currently a regular tutor for WEA, Poetry Society and Arvon Foundation and has taught at Oxford, Leeds and Sheffield Hallam universities. She regularly works in schools and tutors at school writing residentials, teaching children of all ages and abilities, and has run a weekly writers\\' workshop at Doncaster YWCA for twenty years.
Jo Rose is a mesmerising new talent and voice. Drawing from artists like Townes Van Zandt, Neil Young, Elliott Smith, Bill Callahan and Leonard Cohen, Jo Rose has performed in his current solo singer-songwriter guise since 2008. Since then, he has played with the likes of Neal Casal, Liam Frost and Jesca Hoop as well as collaborating with First Aid Kit, The Travelling Band and Gabriel Minnikin. His songs are often lyrically sombre, taking the form of studies of flawed characters and symbolically rich streams of consciousness, accompanied by the stark backing of his subtle but ornamental guitar playing style.
