You are warmly invited to the launch of the artist's book Ce qui advient et ce qui n'advient pas (What does and what doesn't come to pass), a collaboration between poet Jean Portante and artist Robert Brandy, with translations by Zoë Skoulding: www.redfoxpress.com/new.html The reading will be in French and English.

There will also be a brief presentation, by the editor, of the current issue of Poetry Wales, which features... ...a dialogue on multilingual poetry by Jean Portante and Pierre Joris, both from Luxembourg.

Jean Portante was born in the mining town of Differdange, Luxembourg, in 1950, though he is of Italian origin. He has written widely-translated novels, stories, plays and poetry and is a member of the Académie Mallarmé.

His recent collaboration with artist Robert Brandy, Ce qui advient et ce qui n'advient pas, investigates the after-shocks of the earthquake that devastated the region around L'Aquila in Italy in 2009, including his family's village. In a series of fractured sonnets, he explores a shattered language of place and memory.
