Presented by the British Library in association with Apples and Snakes
Miss Lou - Louise Bennett Coverley, has legendary status in Jamaica, the nation whose stories, poems, songs and folklore she tirelessly celebrated, almost single handedly raising the Jamaican patois dialect to the status of an artform. This powerful evening builds around the contributions of a distinguished group of writers and performers who were greatly inspired by her. Curated by Jan Blake, and poet and novelist Valerie Bloom, and featuring: Amina Blackwood Meeks and Jean Binta Breeze.
